I was excited when I heard that the company was building its own video studio. All of that equipment to play with!

Soon after the facility was constructed, I stopped by and experimented. There were several editing bays, a sound room, teleconference room, and the studio itself. It was run by an ex-broadcast engineer and their mission was to produce in-house training materials.

It was quite successful. Shortly after opening it was active 24 hours a day, with projects lining up to use the equipment. They had a real scheduling problem.

Unfortunately, the standard resource scheduling software available at the time could not handle the various dependcies. I wrote a custom system for them using dbase, and later wrote an extract program in C that would transfer the information from dbase to Calendar Creator Plus. This provided a fancy graphical calendar for the studio schedule.
