I've seen it all over the press: "Information Systems Professionals Lack Business Skills" or "Computer Jockeys Prefer Systems to People."
I've been fortunate to have wide exposure to both the business and computer fields.
Team Building - When my employer asked me to build a Notes environment from the ground up, I hired and trained a staff, later promoting the best administrator to management. Later, I did the same thing for Unix environment.
Communications - I have given presentations and training courses to large groups. I also wrote the department newsletter for a time.
Literacy - I keep up with business events by reading the Wall Street Journal and the Los Angeles Times daily.
Vision - On a number of occasions, I have been the creator and coordinator of policies that affect many affiliated companies worldwide.
